Sweet 'n' Tangy Pot Roast

Total Time: 9 hrs 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 9 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 3 lbs boneless beef chuck roast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup red wine or 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 envelope brown gravy mix
  • 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Recipe

  • 1 place roast in 5 qt slow cooker.
  • 2 sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • 3 in a bowl, combine the water, ketchup, wine or broth, gravy mix, mustard, worcestershire sauce and garlic powder; pour over meat.
  • 4 cover and cook on low for 9-10 hours or until meat is tender.
  • 5 combine cornstarch and cold water until smooth.
  • 6 stir into slow cooker.
  • 7 cover and cook on high for 30 minutes or until gravy is thickened.
  • 8 remove meat from slow cooker.
  • 9 slice and serve with gravy.
