Spiced Candied Nuts

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 -3 cups nutmeats (best with walnuts! but works well with pecans or skin-on whole almonds)

Recipe

  • 1 combine sugar, salt, cinnamon and milk.
  • 2 cook slowly to soft ball stage (236-240 degf).
  • 3 remove from heat.
  • 4 immediately add vanilla and nuts.
  • 5 stir carefully until coating loses its gloss and is creamy.
  • 6 turn out on wax paper.
  • 7 and spread out nuts using 2 forks, being careful not to get burned.
  • 8 cool to room temperature before storing.
