Spanish Pastelillos-meat Pie

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter (or shortening)
- 4 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water (approximately)
- 1 lb ground meat
- 1/2 green pepper, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon spanish olives, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon spanish capers
- 3 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 (12 -14 ounce) can tomato sauce
Recipe
- 1 dough: cut butter into sifted flour and salt until like cornmeal.
- 2 add enough water to make firm dough.
- 3 cover and chill.
- 4 filling:
- 5 fry bacon, add green peppers, onion, salt, garlic, olives, capers, italian seasoning, pepper and paprika.
- 6 add meat and brown.
- 7 add tomato sauce and simmer until cooked. set aside to cool.
- 8 roll out dough on lightly floured board, until thin.
- 9 cut into 4-inch rounds.
- 10 place 2 tablespoons filling in center.
- 11 brush edges with egg yolk.
- 12 fold in half and firmly press edges together.
- 13 fry at 375 degrees in deep fat until golden brown.
- 14 makes 12 fritters.
