Tau Yu Bak (braised Lamb In Soy Sauce)

Ingredients

- 500 g lamb (with fat)
- 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon five-spice powder
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dark soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 4 garlic heads
- 1 star anise
- 4 cm cinnamon sticks
- 4 cloves
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons light soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup water
Recipe
- 1 season lamb with marinade overnight.
- 2 heat heavy-based saucepan over med-low heat.
- 3 put in marinated lamb to brown. add in whole garlic pods, cinnamon, anise and cloves. pour in 1/2 amount of water and cook covered 5-8 minute.
- 4 add in dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, sugar and salt. add remaining water and simmer until gravy is thick and meat tender.
- 5 add water if sauce is too thick.
