Spareribs And Sauerkraut

Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 3 lbs spareribs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 medium onion
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 quart sauerkraut
- 1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- salt and pepper
Recipe
- 1 cut spareribs into serving pieces.
- 2 brown them in a pan or broiler.
- 3 place ribs in large pan.
- 4 add salt, onion, and water.
- 5 cover and simmer for about 1-1/2 hrs until almost tender.
- 6 taste sauerkraut for acidity, and rinse if necessary in warm water and drain.
- 7 add to meat.
- 8 season with salt and pepper.
- 9 cook uncovered for about 30 minutes.
- 10 serve with mashed or baked potatoes.
