Spareribs And Sauerkraut

Total Time: 2 hrs 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 3 lbs spareribs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 quart sauerkraut
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • salt and pepper

Recipe

  • 1 cut spareribs into serving pieces.
  • 2 brown them in a pan or broiler.
  • 3 place ribs in large pan.
  • 4 add salt, onion, and water.
  • 5 cover and simmer for about 1-1/2 hrs until almost tender.
  • 6 taste sauerkraut for acidity, and rinse if necessary in warm water and drain.
  • 7 add to meat.

  • 9 cook uncovered for about 30 minutes.
