Sweet And Sour Spareribs

Total Time: 2 hrs 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 -3 lbs spareribs, cut into serving-size pieces
  • 1/2-1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 3/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

Recipe

  • 1 brown ribs in a deep frying pan.
  • 2 place browned ribs in a roasting pan or baking dish in a single layer.
  • 3 drain excess fat from frying pan, deglaze the pan with hot water,scraping up browned bits, and set it aside to add to the sauce ingredients.
  • 4 bake ribs in a 350 degree fahrenheit oven for about 30 minutes.
  • 5 drain excess fat with a meat baster.
  • 6 meanwhile, mix sauce ingredients together in a saucepan, including the reserved liquid from deglazing the fry pan. bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • 7 reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
  • 8 pour sauce over browned ribs and bake uncovered at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 1 to 1-1/2 hours or until done.
  • 9 baste occasionally and turn once or twice.
  • 10 set your oven timer to remind you when to baste, every 15 or 20 minutes or so.
  • 11 add a little hot water if the sauce is getting too thick before the meat is done.
