Western Bacon-nut Salad

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 4 slices bacon, crumbled
  • 1/4-1/2 cup chopped nuts (pecans, almonds, filberts or walnuts)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons chili sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash pepper
  • 1 head lettuce
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 1 1/4 cups celery, diced
  • 1/4-1/2 cup sliced onion rings

Recipe

  • 1 cook bacon until crisp.
  • 2 sauté nut meats.
  • 3 drain both on paper towels.
  • 4 meanwhile, combine sour cream, chili sauce, mustard, salt and pepper.
  • 5 arrange greens, tomatoes, celery and onion rings in salad bowl.
  • 6 add bacon bits and nut meats.
  • 7 toss lightly to blend.
  • 8 pour sour cream dressing over all and toss gently.
  • 9 additional crisp bacon and sautéed nuts may be passed with salad as accompaniments.
  • 10 serves 6.
