Sweet Baked Beans

Total Time: 17 hrs Preparation Time: 13 hrs Cook Time: 4 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 lb dried navy beans
  • 1/4 lb salt lamb, diced
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1 1/2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 5 cups hot water
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste

Recipe

  • 1 place beans in large bowl and cover completely with cold water, soak for 12 hours.
  • 2 drain beans and transfer to large saucepan. cover completely with fresh water and bring to a boil. season with salt and pepper, cook for 30 minutes over medium heat.
  • 3 preheat oven to 300*f.
  • 4 drain beans and transfer to bean pot. add remaining ingredients, including hot water, season generously. cover and cook for 3 hours in oven.
  • 5 thirty minutes before end of cooking, remove cover.
