Weiners On A Stick

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • vegetable oil or shortening, for deep frying
  • 1 cup of your favourite barbecue sauce
  • 1 cup packaged pancake mix
  • 2 tablespoons yellow cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 wooden skewers

Recipe

  • 1 heat oil to 375 degrees f on a deep fry thermometer.
  • 2 in a small saucepan, heat bbq sauce.
  • 3 keep warm.
  • 4 combine pancake mix, cornmeal, sugar, and water.
  • 5 beat until just smooth.
  • 6 let stand 10 minutes.
  • 7 dip weiners in the batter so they are coated all over.
  • 8 fry coated weiners, a few at a time,until crisp and golden brown all over.
  • 9 lift out carefully with a slotted spoon and drain well on paper towels.
  • 10 insert a skewer in one end of each weiner.
  • 11 serve immediately with warmed bbq sauce for dipping.
